Mónica López Uribe (1962-2004), was born with spina bifida, she was a special educator and psychologist. She also learned two languages: English and French, was an enterprising, person, optimistic, highly motivated to live and solidarity with the needs of the other people. Monica was a tireless dreamer, her main dream was to share her life experience to people like her, that were born with spina bífida. That was the reason why she created Mónica Uribe Por Amor Foundation.
The Foundation was created in 1999 as a non-profit organization that promotes the integral development of people with spina bifida, seeking autonomy and social inclusion.
¿What we do?
Since 1999, we develop support programs designed to enable a better life for our children and youth and their families, seeking a better understanding and management of their condition. At this time are part of our founding more than 350 children, youth and their families, mostly at economical levels 1 and 2, who have achieved a positive balance in the different areas of development, related to the following programs:

- Skills for Daily Living

- Facilitator family
- Arts and crafts

- Visit to educational institutions
- Story time
To promote the development of people with spina bifida, seeking autonomy and social inclusion.
Mónica Uribe Foundation will be established as a leader in comprehensive care of people with spina bifida, being a reference institution and nationally recognized for its preventive work.
